Bobby Pulido, the Latin Grammy-winning artist has recently announced that he is take a step back from his music career in order to run for Congress in Texas’ 15th congressional district, which Jim Wells County is a part of.

Pulido is a 54 year old resident of South Texas and the son of José Roberto Pulido, who was a migrant farm worker before launching a very successful music career. While discussing his reason for transitioning to politics, Bobby said he has always been passionate about helping his community.

Bobby Pulido has positioned himself as a “proud Democrat” but also somebody who is willing break with the party if the party doesn’t support his values, or the values of South Texas. “I’m not team red or team blue. South Texas, I’m team you,” he said in his first campaign video.

In his launch video, he called out his opponent Monica De La Cruz (R-TX), for refusing to stand up to “greedy corporations, billionaire donors, and her own party” and slammed her for voting to cut Medicaid and Medicare.

Pulido was also spotted wearing an Alice Coyotes cap in another recent video he posted online, discussing his run for Congress.

Bobby’s campaign will be an uphill battle, due to recent redistricting efforts by Texas Republicans to make his district more Republican, however he believes he can unite people across party lines.
