Check out the original story in the South Texas Star.
It’s election day in the Lone Star State today and Texans can cast their ballots until polls close at 7:00 pm tonight. The Uniform General Election takes place in Texas every two years where voters get to decide who will represent them for city council, mayor, and school board.
Who is eligible to vote?
In the State of Texas, only U.S. citizens who were registered to vote before the registration deadline thirty days ago are eligible to vote. If you have moved within the same county but did not update your voter registration, you may be allowed to vote with a provisional ballot.
What do I need to vote?
While the Texas Legislature is currently debating bills that would change the requirements to vote, for this election Texas residents will only need a valid photo ID (such as a Driver License, state ID, military ID, or passport, no student IDs) to vote.
