ALICE, Texas — As the 2026 midterm elections quickly approach, the Jim Wells County Republican Party is preparing for a big fight, while the Jim Wells County Democratic Party so far, is nowhere to be found.

The midterm primary elections are slated for March of 2026, with the general election following in November. With just a few months left until the primary, several Republican candidates have already announced their campaigns for local office. On the Democratic side, however, there hasn’t been much talk about who is going to run, at least for the big races.

Jim Wells County had been a reliably Democratic-region for decades, but now there appears to be a lot of energy on the Republican side. Besides a few Democratic candidates who have made their own announcements, the lack of any official announcements or campaign events from the county party have left many Democratic voters in Jim Wells County to wonder where their party is.
