ALICE, Texas — From the period of March 20 through April 4, several individuals and locations will be accepting snacks that will be donated to local fire departments from Alice, Ben Bolt, Orange Grove, Sandia, San Diego, and Premont.
The snack drive is being organized by Alice City Councilwoman Sandra Maldonado-Bowen. She says this snack drive was organized to provide “a quick snack while out in the field.” And recommends donations for “items [the firefighters] can use, including crackers, beef sticks, beef jerky, nuts, granola bars, etc.”
This snack drive comes after a month of incredibly hot and dry weather which has sparked multiple wildfires across Jim Wells County. Many of these fires have even destroyed several local homes, due to the fact that the heavy winds made it extremely difficult for authorities to contain the blazes.
Donations can be dropped off at Robert Schallert Elementary in the front office or
