The Alice Lady Coyote basketball team defeated the McAllen Lady Mustangs in tonight’s playoff match. This means that the Lady Coyotes will advance to round three of the playoffs.
The Lady Coyotes spent a considerable amount of time behind the Lady Mustangs in tonight’s match, but they showcased true grit by mounting an impressive comeback. By the third quarter, the Lady Coyotes had begun to turn things around.
Although the Lady Mustangs put up a strong defense, it was not enough to stop Alice’s momentum leading into the fourth quarter. The Lady Coyotes established a five point lead which they had been able to more-or-less maintain until the end of the match.
Although in the final three minutes of the final quarter, things got a bit more intense. The Lady Mustangs made up lost ground and managed to sit just two points shy of forcing the game into overtime. Yet, the Lady Coyotes held strong and managed to regain control of the court.
When the buzzer rang, the final score was 54-48, leaving the Lady Coyotes with a six-point victory over McAllen.
Members of the community are encouraged to attend round three and support the Lady Coyotes. For location, ticketing, and more information, contact the Alice High School Athletic Department.
