For the third year in a row, Texas-based retailer H-E-B has secured the top spot in dunnhumby’s nationwide study of the nearly one trillion dollar grocery market in the United States.
The study found that price-conscious consumerism is driving the market. Low prices, promotions, and rewards programs are some of the key aspects driving shoppers’ decisions.

The annual study included a survey of over 11,000 Americans. The rise in price-conscious consumer habits can be attributed to the rise in inflation. Although the United States inflation rate is one of the lowest in the world, any rise in prices and the cost of living can be felt immediately by the working class.
H-E-B’s pro-consumer practices, including their coupons, community investments, and disaster relief have paid off through their customers’ loyalty. H-E-B has become part of the fabric and identity of Texas, and the data suggests that if they keep this up they will see success for years to come.
