ALICE, Texas — A suspect has been apprehended after leading local law enforcement on a chase. Arturo Ruiz had several active warrants when he fled from police for several miles.

According to Alice Police Chief Eden Garcia, the suspect drove northbound on HWY 359 and was eventually apprehended in Alfred, Texas. When reached for comment on Wednesday night, he confirmed to the Gazette that there was no longer a threat to public safety.

The suspect is being held at the Jim Wells County Jail on three Motion to Revoke Felony charges, one Evading Arrest Det. w/ Vehicle charge, and one Resist Arrest charge. All five charges are listed as felonies on the jail site at the time of publishing.
