The boys and girls golf teams for Alice High School participated in the Veterans Memorial Invitational this weekend. The boys competed as a team while the girls were participating as individuals.

The boys team finished the tournament in fourth place out of a total of twenty teams. A solid placement for the young men, with room for improvement. Thankfully, this weekend afforded the Coyotes an opportunity to gauge their competition for the rest of the season and find what areas need improvement.

Jojo Salinas, a junior and golfer at Alice High School spoke to the Gazette after the tournament. Below is a portion of the interview:

How do you feel about your team’s performance this weekend?

“We did the best we could with the weather conditions, but other than that there are some mistakes that can easily be taken care of. I believe in our team and what we have.”

What did you take away from this weekend’s invitational?

“We faced some teams that we will play against in district and this invitational really helped us find out where we stand and now we know what we need to work on to get better and take that next big step to regionals.”
