The Alice Coyote Varsity Soccer Team gave it their all in the War at the Stable Tournament, but ultimately only secured one win.
The Coyotes played their first game on January 3 against McAllen Memorial. Although the boys played hard until the very end, they were not able to score any goals in the first match. McAllen won with a final score of 6-0.
Game two took place on January 3 as well, the Alice Coyotes went up against Incarnate Ward Academy. Arturo Cepeda is a Junior and midfielder and scored two goals for the Alice Coyotes. Zacharias Carrizales, a sophomore and also a midfielder secured one goal for the team. Joseph Gaza, a junior and forward scored one goal for the Alice Coyotes. Through their determination, communication, and teamwork, these boys were able to secure a 4-2 victory against Incarnate Ward Academy.
The Alice Coyotes played their third and final game on Saturday, January 4 against IDEA North Mission. Despite their effort and skill, the Alice Coyotes fell short of victory, losing with a final score of 3-1. The singular goal in the final game was a penalty kick by Tike Aguilera, a senior and midfielder.
Noah Garcia, a sophomore and the Alice Coyotes’ goal keeper was recognized for his hard work and excellence by being selected for the All Tournament Award.
Although the Coyotes did not perform as well as they had hoped, they return to a proud community that remains inspired by their continued passion and resilience.
