CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Eliseo Martinez, a resident of Alice resigned from the Corpus Christi Police Department on September 29, following an investigation into the alleged indecent assault.
Martinez was promptly arrested after resigning as the case against him moves forward.
According to the victim, then Officer Martinez responded to a domestic violence call and proceeded to escort the victim home. After following the victim inside her home, he allegedly removed his body camera and proceeded to assault her.
Surveillance footage captured Martinez exiting the victim’s apartment after four minutes and was seen reattaching his body camera at that time.
Former Officer Martinez denied the assault allegations and claimed he did not remove his body camera when interviewed by detectives. However, he did admit to making inappropriate comments about the victim prior to the alleged assault.
According to investigators, then Officer Martinez initially agreed to a polygraph test (lie detector) however he later changed his mind and refused.
The District Attorney’s office weighed all the evidence and decided to move forward with formal charges which led to Officer Martinez’ resignation and eventual arrest.
