ALICE, Texas — The Carroll High School Tigers narrowly defeated the Alice Coyote varsity baseball team in the first district match of the season.

The Alice Coyotes started off the night in a strong position, being the first team to put a run on the board. Maddox Carrillo, a sophomore at Alice High School scored the run for the Coyotes in the first inning. However, by the time the fifth inning came around, the Coyotes’ defense began to falter.

The Carroll Tigers scored two runs on the Alice Coyotes at the top of the fifth inning, which put them just one run ahead of the Coyotes. Still, that one run made all the difference.

The Carroll Tigers held their lead until the end of the game, delivering a close defeat to the Alice Coyotes. The game ended with a final score of 2-1 for the Tigers.
