This year is the first year that Alice High School has a unified basketball team. Unified sports combines students with and without intellectual disabilities of all genders to play as one team. They are led by coaches Lisa Cisneros and Joseph Rodriguez.

To kickoff the season, the team was celebrated this morning with a drum line walk around campus, where they were joined by strutters and cheerleaders. This gave the players an opportunity to build anticipation and excitement for their upcoming game.

The Alice HS team played against the H. M. King Early College HS in a closely-watched match. After an exciting game, the Coyotes emerged victorious with a score of 21-13.

The Coyotes made history today, by not only playing the first game as a Unified team in Alice, but also winning their first-ever match. Members of the community can support the Unified team at any of their upcoming matches. The athletic schedule can be found on Alice ISD’s social media pages weekly.
