ALICE, Texas — According to reporting from KIII News, Gilberto Rosales Jr., a 52 year old resident of Alice was arrested after his wife was killed in a single-vehicle accident early Sunday morning.
The couple was traveling southbound around 5 am in their Silverado pickup truck, when it veered off the road and struck a utility pole near the intersection of State Highways 349 and 44.
51 year old Refugia Barrera was the passenger and sustained life-threatening injuries in the accident. She was transported to CRISTUS Spohn Hospital in Alice where she was later pronounced dead.
Her surviving husband was arrested on one count of intoxicated manslaughter by law enforcement and later processed at the Jim Wells County Jail in Alice. As of the writing of this article, Mr. Rosales was listed as bondable but remains in custody. It is not yet clear if he has retained an attorney.
