The Alice Coyote Varsity Soccer Team played against CC Veterans on Tuesday night in Corpus Christi. The Coyotes put up a tough fight but ultimately came up short. The game finished with a score of 4-1 for CC Veterans.
Joseph Gaza is a junior at Alice High School and plays as a forward for the varsity team. He scored the singular goal for the Coyotes on Tuesday night. Although the team did not do as well as expected, CC Veterans has performed exceptionally well all season and are currently 2-0 in district, making the Coyotes the underdogs in this match-up.
Speaking after the game, Antonio Valadez who is a senior at Alice High School told the Gazette that he’s “feeling pretty good,” and believes they “have a lot to learn after this game.” He went on to say that the team got out-hustled by the opposition, but that is something they can fix during practice. “Once we clean up the details, we’re going to be a contender for district,” he concluded.
Oscar Hernandez is a junior and forward for the Alice Coyotes. After the game he caught up with the Gazette to talk about their performance. “I think we did o— not that good, I think our positioning could’ve been better,” Hernandez said.
