The Alice Fire Department joined other local firefighters for a day of non-stop action. These brave public servants were outside in the intense conditions battling all kinds of blazes.
The day began with several fires across various parts of Jim Wells County that the Alice Fire Department assisted in containing and extinguishing. The scattered nature of these fires stretched the department thin while they were working hard to keep people safe.
While AFD was assisting with wildfires and emergencies across the county, several smaller fires broke out in Alice, with one catching a local family’s home on fire. According to eye witness reports, a transformer was blown as a result of the heavy winds and a nearby house was completely engulfed by the fire.
Despite these terrible weather conditions and a long day of fighting the blazes, the brave firefighters not only managed to put out these fires but do so under extreme stress and exhaustion.
As the wind settled down later in the evening and things appear to have returned to calm, the community remains thankful for the brave souls who fought these blazes.
If you would like to help the Alice family who lost their home today, they are organizing an online fundraiser to assist in their efforts rebuild and recover after this terrible tragedy.
