The Alice High School Swim Team participated in the TISCA meet in Tuloso-Midway this weekend where they competed against 12 other schools for the top spot. The Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association or TISCA sponsored the meet.

At this meet, the Alice Coyotes competed against Calallen, CC Incarnate Word Academy, Corpus Christi London, El Campo, Flour Bluff, Freeport, Gregory-Portland, Light Christian Academy, Lumberton, McCallum, Tuloso-Midway, and Victoria West.

Meets are comprised of individual and relay races that are typically segregated by gender. The boys and girls compete in various races that vary between distance, stroke, and whether or not it will be a relay or individual.

The individuals or relay teams compete in their designated races. Then based on the results of the preliminary races, those who place well will compete in a series of final races.

After the preliminary round, the Alice Coyotes competed in their final events. Each swimmer or relay team is able to earn points based off of their performance. Their goal is to earn as many points as possible because they contribute to the swim team’s overall standing.

When all was said and done, the Alice HS Swim Team girls ended up in sixth place, finishing with 137 points. While the Alice HS Swim Team boys placed second, with 284 points. Although this meet was not part of district, it provided the team with valuable practice and experience as they continue to improve over the season.
