The 2024 All-District selections for District 15-5A Division 2 were recently announced. Altogether Alice High School had 12 students selected for the first team and eight selected for the second team. Six were chosen for honorable mentions.
The Gazette spoke with Alice ISD Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Joe Castellano about these selections. He praised the students for their hard work and for representing the community of Alice so well.
“I am super proud of all of our All District selections, they definitely earned it by going Back to Back district champs. These young men did an outstanding job of representing the community of Alice on and off the field. And will continue to work hard to make Alice proud.”

Maddex Carrillo, a sophomore at Alice High School was selected for the first team. When asked about this news, he told The Gazette that he was thankful to Jesus, “First of all I would like to thank my lord and savior Jesus Christ for giving me the opportunity to play the game.” He also thanked his coaches and spoke a bit about his family, “I would for sure thank all of the coaches for providing a great game plan for us to execute every week. My two older brothers for sure have lead the way in Alice for me and the Carrillo tradition is a real thing.”
Ryder Salaiz, also a sophomore at Alice High School was selected for the second team. He says he sees it as an opportunity to better himself. “It’s an honor and a privilege to be even considered for an all district mention. It’s definitely a great feeling,” he told The Gazette. “It will definitely keep me striving harder to want better for myself.”
